I joined Bretons
back in 1990 with Anna, my fathers Bull Mastiff.
Unfortunately my fathers’ ill health prevented him
from working Anna.
Anna’s breed made
her unsuitable for agility but from the start I was
interested in basic dog training and solving dog
behavioural problems. In 1992 I began helping with
the Control classes and enjoyed it so much that I
went on to gain my Instructors Certificate from the
Royal Veterinary College at Potters Bar. Here I
learnt that more often than not the problem lies
with the handler rather than the dog!
I have been heavily
involved in the running of Bretons annual Agility
Show and have sat on the Committee since 1992
much of it as the Chairman. In my time at Bretons I
have seen plenty of dogs progress through the club
better and happier animals with their owners
becoming more confident having gained a better
understanding of how to communicate with their pet.
Sadly I am without
a dog at present having lost our dear old Cocker
Spaniel Bertie in 2007. Work prevents a new dog
companion at this time but watch this space.
