Colin Luckett ( Agility Trainer & Club Treasurer )
Hi everyone
My name is Colin. I joined
Bretons in early 1988 with our collie cross (Angie) for some control
lessons under the guidance of Jean west. I was soon asked if I would
help at the Bretons agility show held in the June. This I did and it
whetted my appetite for the sport. We did our agility training with
Queenie Teather and Maureen White and I was unleashed onto the
agility circuit in July 1989.
I came onto the committee in
1990 and was asked in 1991 if I would become club treasurer, the
position I hold to this day (any takers??). From the mid 90’s to
about 2002 I was also
Show manager for our agility
shows (this being done with the help of a very, very understanding
wife!!)
On the dog front my daughter
Carol and I got Angie our first dog to senior (grade 6). In 1995 I
got a little Border terrier (well not so little) called Danny. We
had great fun together, qualifying for Crufts on a number of
occasions and also other events. I would like to think that he
helped whet the appetite of a few club members’ to try agility. I
currently run another small dog called Syd (an Australian terrier)
who is quite different to Danny, perhaps this is why my daughter has
done far more with him than me.
I have helped with the training
of agility over at Bretons and at our indoor training venues since
the late 90’s, Agility is fun and can become quite addictive. Why
not come and give it a try, we would love to see you there.
