The Control
Classes are held on Sunday mornings
at Bretons Outdoor Centre, Rainham
Road, Elm Park, RM13 7LP. There is
ample parking but please be advised
there are no toilet facilities.
Refreshment can be bought from the
Burger Van on site.
Training is held outside
therefore appropriate clothing and
footwear is advisable. We train
using Positive Reinforcement (a
reward basis) so please bring plenty
of tasty treats and toys. You may
find a bumbag of help so your hands
are free to work your dog.
You are expected to clear up
after your dog so please make sure
you have a supply of poo bags.
The Intermediate Class begins at
09:15 and we appreciate it if
members could arrive at 09:00 to
help get out and set up the
equipment, equally we appreciate
your help in putting it away at the
end of the lesson.
The cost for the Intermediate
classes are £2.00 per session in
addition to the Club Membership fee
of £8.00 for single membership due
in January each year.
The Beginners Class begins at
10:15. It will be to your advantage
if you use soft long leads as these
will be kinder on the hand and will
help in working your dog away from
you for the recall, sit/down stay
exercises. Please note we do not
train those who choose to use choke
chains.
The 10 week Beginners Class costs
£45.00 which includes the annual
Club Membership fee of £8.00. You
will receive a clicker (training aid
which will be explained in the
class), recipe for Liver Cake and
recommended websites to surf, weekly
handouts and the opportunity to ask
questions. Please remember there is
no such thing as a silly question.
We try where possible to start
the lessons on time but there are
occasions when the classes may start
a little later due to club members
or prospective members having
questions or enquiries that we can
help address.
“Bretons DTC welcomes people of all
levels and standards. Handlers and
dogs with some experience will be
assessed to determine the most
appropriate group for them”.
