Jean Luckett ( Agility Trainer )
Hi everyone.
My name is Jean
(wife of Colin and mother of Carol.) I walked the dogs and did the
packed lunches, helped out at Bretons and other club’s agility shows
and was generally the “gofer” for the family for many years. In 2001
at Discover Dogs I saw this retriever type dog that I really liked
and the idea of my own dog and joining in with the family began.
Saffie, a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, was born just before
my birthday in 2004 (that got Colin out of the “what do you want for
your birthday” routine.)
I became the
agility co-ordinator, as well as helping out with moving equipment
for over a year, before I began training Saffie in September 2005.
We began competing in early 2006 and we have managed our fare share
of clear round rosettes and have now started getting a few place
rosettes and the odd trophy. One day we hope to actually win one of
the KC classes. (“only if you run faster”!!! say Colin and Carol)
In January 2008 I
became a trainer and hopefully manage to encourage handlers and dogs
to practice and develop the new skills learnt from our starter
trainer. I am also on the Breton’s Committee, joining in February
2008.
